Need a Truckload of Campaign Gear?
Check out ElectionMall’s online campaign store. This easy to setup and manage store looks good on your website and will bring your campaign more attention and money. ElectionMall hosts your store, fulfills orders, and ships. Currently, we are the only campaign company offering mini-bulk purchasing. This means you can get everything you need for a parade at the same price as the one or two things your need to purchase for your parade when buying in bulk. For example, you don’t have to buy 1,000 bumper stickers for $650. Your mini-bulk order can look like this: 250 rally signs, 500 buttons, 250 bumper stickers, – 1,000 items of everything you need for $650. With this exclusive Campaign Yoga offer, we even include free shipping, free artwork, and free union bug printed on request. We also provide the fastest shipping available. Talk to our campaign store expert Brett who can even advise you on what you need and quantities depending on your state and district. Email him at brett@electionmall.com or call 1-888-WEB-2WIN. Meditate On This
Don’t underestimate the effectiveness of yard signs. Besides name recognition, yard signs are visible markers of the numbers supporting your candidate. One of the most important things about a yard sign is that your candidate’s message can be tailored to specific voters who live, work, or frequent certain areas.
Use ElectionMall’s yard signs as rally signs first. We include stakes with all yard signs so, save money, use them twice. You will impress your supporters with your practicality and thinking green.
Breathing Exercise
Running campaigns is a tiring job. It is good to occasionally leave campaign headquarters and grab a cup of coffee or tea somewhere. Strike up a conversation with the people around you, real live voters. Ask them what they think. You may get a different perspective and feel more rested and relaxed.
New Vocabulary
if by whiskey…: taking both sides of an issue; equivocating; a political straddle. An expression that applies to any political position that fails to take a position.
The abridged version of the originator of this phrase was asked about his stance on the controversial matter of drinking whiskey. He starts out with “If when you say whiskey, you mean the Devil’s brew, the poison scourge…then certainly I am against it.” He continues “But, if when you say whiskey, you mean the oil of conversation, the philosophic wine…of which pours into our treasuries untold millions of dollars, which are used to provide tender care for out little crippled children…then certainly I am for it.” (Judge Noah S. Sweat Jr. of Corinth, Mississippi, 1952)
bafflegab: jargon providing more obfuscation than enlightenment, as is often found in ill-written government reports and other official statements.
Claimed author Milton Smith, then assistant general counsel of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, wanted a “new and catchy word to describe the utter incomprehensibility, ambiguity, verbosity and complexity of government regulations.” In 1967, economics columnist Sylvia Porter had a “batch of bafflegab” – all euphemisms for recession –“healthy slowdown, rolling readjustment, crabwise movement, high-level stagnation, period of basic readjustment, and mini-slump.”
